DABNEY JUSTUS

Dabney Justus, age 74, of 1109 N. 6th, died at 12:18 a.m. Monday (June 22, 2009) in Blessing Hospital Emergency Room.

Born June 12 1935 in Moberly, Missouri, Dabney was the son of William and Mary Prewitt Justus. He married Nancy M. Glasenapp on July 22, 1957 in Quincy. She survives.

Dabney was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and enjoyed woodworking, growing roses and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict.

Dabney was employed at Speed Rack Manufacturing from 1956 until its closing in 1986. He was then employed at Doyle Manufacturing and Marlboro Wire Manufacturing until his retirement due to ill health.

Survivors include two sons, Warren D. Justus and William C. "Bill" Justus both of Quincy; two daughters, Michele "Shelly" Melton and her husband Mike of Springfield, MO. and Mindy Wollbrink and her husband Kevin of Sutter, IL.; Two grandchildren, Jennifer K. Justus of Quincy and Justin Hainline of Sutter; one brother Edgar Justus and his wife Kathy of Moberly, MO.; Three sisters, Anna Mae Griffith and her husband Danny of Moberly, MO., Dora Dennis and her husband Joe Bill of Higbee, MO and Laveda Mason and her husband Alfred of Moberly and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Dabney was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harry Sumpter and William Justus, and a twin sister Minnie Joella Justus.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Gilbert Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday morning from 9:30 until the time of services at the funeral home.
