DEAN T. MAKRIS

Mr. Dean T. Makris, 88, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 2526 Cherry, died at 10:22 a.m. Sunday (March 30, 2008) in Good Samaritan Home.

Born July 16, 1919 in Quincy, Dean was the son of Theodore K. and Marguerite Holt Makris. He married Edith Kline in 1943. She preceded him in death in 1955. He married Osa DeJaynes on October 15, 1956 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on June 14, 1988.

Dean was a 1937 graduate of Quincy Senior High School. During World War II, he flew in the Civil Air Patrol. An avid sportsman, Dean enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and playing in the Twin Oaks Pool League. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Twin Oaks Club and the Gardner Denver Quarter Century Club.

Mr. Makris was employed at Gardner Denver, Cooper Industries for 50 years until his retirement.

Survivors include a step daughter, Reva Ann "Corky" Stuve and her husband Vern of Rochester, MN; two nephews, Pat Makris and Mike Makris both of Chicago, IL.; four step grandchildren, Floyd Hertsgaard and Dena Hertsgaard both of Des Moines, IA, Bonnie Landsvelk of Ankeny, IA and Kathy Ferris of Oswego, IL; and two step great grandchildren;

Mr. Makris was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edith; his wife, Osa; a brother, James Makris; and a step grandson, Randy Hertsgaard.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Steve Livengood.  Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to Grace United Methodist Church or Eber Wing at Good Samaritan Home.
