DENNIS L. CALVERT

Mr. Dennis L. Calvert, 59, of 2422 N. 12th St., died at 1:40 p.m. Saturday (July 16, 2005) in Blessing Hospital.

Born April 9, 1946 in Muscatine, IA., Dennis was the son of Virgil L. and Betty Jane Church Calvert. He married Connie K. Lewis on February 16, 1985 in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. She survives.

Dennis was a graduate of Quincy High School and attended Mascatine Community College. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, listening to music and was an avid NASCAR fan. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Calvert served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.

Dennis was employed as a security guard for the Securitas Company currently working at Blue Cross and Blue Shield where he enjoyed being with all their employees.

Also surviving is his father, Virgil L. Calvert of Quincy; a step daughter, Sherry K. Ramsdale and her companion Dave Linehan of Davenport, IA.; a step son, Scott G. Ramsdale and his wife Denise of Burnsville, MN.; a step grandson, Benjamin Huntington of Davenport, IA.; four brothers, Virgil Calvert Jr. and his wife Barbara of Pekin, IL., Jim Calvert and his wife Vicki of Quincy, Brian Calvert of Independence, MO. and John Calvert and his wife Deanna of Sarasota, FL.; five sisters, Linda Schuette and her husband Kent of Quincy, Bonnie Skaggs and her husband Dave of Sarasota, FL., Joni McGuffin and her husband Glen of Quincy, Diana Calvert of Mendon and Cindy Brown and her husband Richard of Schaumburg, IL.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother; Betty Calvert; one brother, Lysle Calvert; and one nephew, Gary Calvert.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. George Tomko. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Wednesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
