
DERRALD DON BENTLEY
Mr. Derrald D. Bentley , 91, of 3712 Queen Anne Ave, died at 7:50 p.m. Thursday (March 8, 2007) in Blessing Hospital.
Born August 19, 1915 in Newark, Missouri, Derrald was the son of Rufus and Anna Metcalf Bentley. He married Ruby Bentley on November 23, 1936 in Carthage, Illinois. She died February 26, 2002.
Mr. Bentley was a member of Central Baptist Church and a former member of the Quincy American Legion Post #37. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Derrald and his wife, Ruby, were avid fisherman and spent much of their retirement at Pine Lakes in Pittsfield.
Derrald owned and operated the Conoco Service Station at 4th and Spring for two years. He later managed the bar at the Lincoln-Douglas Hotel for 12 years. He was then employed at Heintz Electric as a bookkeeper and credit manager for over 25 years until his retirement in 1978.
Surviving are two daughters, Marcia Holler and her husband Gene and Mary Beth Vercimak, both of Quincy; three grandchildren, Jeff Holler, Julie Beebe and her husband Mike, and Becky Robertson, all of Quincy; and five great grandchildren, Courtney Robertson and Derrald Miller Robertson, both of Quincy, Jason Holler of Edwardsville, and Austin and Amber Beebe, both of Quincy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruby; and two brothers, Barney and Ralph Bentley.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 in Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. Ivan Greuter. Burial with military honors by the Quincy American Legion Post #37 will be in Quincy Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 at the funeral home.
