DESOLEE M. BROWN
Mrs. Desolee M. Brown, 81, of the St. Vincent's Home, formerly of RR 2 Quincy, died at 5:00 p.m. Monday (January 15, 2007) in Blessing Hospital.
Born April 14, 1925 in Quincy, Desolee was the daughter of David and Una I. Darnell Houghton. She married James A. "Jim" Brown on July 26, 1941 in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1990.
Mrs. Brown was a member of Central Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting and cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Brown was previously employed at Davis-Cleaver, Motorola and St. Vincent's Home.
Survivors include a son, Donald R. Brown and his wife Angela of Quincy; a daughter, Barbara Poppenhager and her husband Clifford of Quincy; five grandchildren, Tammy Black and her husband Rick, Richard Brown and his wife Brenda, Terry Poppenhager and his wife Sherry, William "Bill" Brown and his fiance' Yvonne Sandegren, and Todd Poppenhager and his fiance' Danielle Dunn all of Quincy; five great grandchildren, Rebecca Black, Austin Brown, Connor Brown, Jimmy Poppenhager and Abbie Poppenhager; a step great grandchild, Kim Sandegren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, James L. Brown; three sisters, Hester Root, Rita Maggart and a sister in infancy; and five brothers, Ova, James, Alvin and Delbert Houghton and a brother in infancy.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Ivan Greuter. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Thursday until the time of services at the funeral home.
