DOLORES L. "DOIE" COOKSON

Dolores L. "Doie" Cookson 93, of Quincy., died at 10:20 a.m. Friday (June 29, 2007) in Marceline at the home of her sister in law Willia Bryson.

Born March 5, 1914 in Quincy, Doie was the daughter of Willis R. and Theresa Voshake Young. She married Orville "Kelly" Cookson on September 16, 1940. He died October 23, 1991.

Doie graduated Quincy High School in 1933 and then attended the New York City School of Art. She was a talented china painter and enjoyed making ceramic. She enjoyed fishing and loved all animals, especially her cats and dogs.

She was a Nurse's Assistant at the Illinois Veterans Home for several years until her retirement in 1974.

Survivors include a step daughter Patricia Ann "Patti" Jenkins of Quincy, and a cousin, Milton Pullman and his wife Margaret of Phoenix, AZ.. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

Doie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother; Russell Young, two sisters; Ruth Fries and Lucille Hall.

Graveside services will be held Monday morning at 10:00 at Greenmount Cemetery by the Rev. George Tomko.

There will be no visitation but friends are invited to the graveside services.
