DONALD E. DULANEY

Mr. Donald E. Dulaney, 63, of 200 Webster Lane, Maywood, Missouri, died peacefully with his wife at his side, at 3:10 a.m. Saturday (January 30, 2010) at his home following a short, hard fought battle with cancer.

Born August 8, 1946 in Adams County, Illinois, Don was the son of Douglas A. and Melba R. Otto Dulaney. He married Carol "Sue" Witt on August 8, 1998 in Kirksville, Missouri. She survives.

Don was a 1964 graduate of Quincy High School and a graduate of Ranken Technical School in St. Louis. On December 7, 1967, Don was inducted into the U. S. Army, serving proudly and courageously in Vietnam for more than a year after surviving a helicopter crash. He was Honorably Discharged on December 3, 1969.

An avid Nascar fan, Don would go every Sunday to Quincy Raceways. He was a former member of the Kirksville Masonic Lodge and the Kirksville Shrine Club and he enjoyed working in his garden and doing yardwork. Don devoted his life to Sue and her family and especially loved the time he spent with his grandchildren and his beloved dachshunds, Candy and Brandy. Don will be remembered for his quick wit and everyone who knew him waited for his dry, sarcastic sense of humor to come out.

Don owned and operated D & S Papers and was a contractor for the Quincy Herald Whig, winning numerous sales and contracting awards. He previously had owned the Moberly Auto Auction and was employed as the shipping and receiving manager for the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

Survivors include his wife, Sue; his mother, Melba Dulaney of Quincy; a step son, Doug Baker and his wife Tali of Quincy; a step daughter, Susan Smith of Maywood, MO; six step grandchildren, Evan Baker, John Baker, Willa Baker, Jentry Baker, Jackson Smith and Harrison Smith; three brothers, D.
