DONALD M. RYAN

Mr. Donald M. Ryan, 77, of 1521 Hamann Lane, Quincy, died at 1:13 p.m. Saturday (December 5, 2009) in the emergency room of Blessing Hospital.

Born February 15, 1932 in Quincy, Don was the son of Ellis and Gladys Huddleston Ryan.
He married Dorothy M. Power on October 20, 1951 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on April 8, 2004.

Mr. Ryan served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Ryan was employed as the Director of Purchasing for Blessing Hospital in Quincy for 11 years and had the honor of being the First Employee of the Year named by the hospital. He and Dorothy moved to Evanston, Illinois where he was employed at Mather Home and they later moved to Geneseo, Illinois where Don was employed as the Director of Purchasing for Hammond-Henry Hospital. He retired in 1991 and moved back to Quincy.

Survivors include a son, David M. Ryan of Quincy; a daughter, Donna S. Ryan of Quincy; a sister, Mary Lammers of Quincy; a brother in law, Oscar Miles of Quincy; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Ryan was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Linda in infancy; a sister, Mardelle Miles; and a brother in law, Paul Lammers.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Henry Pratt. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 and Wednesday until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Quincy Humane Society or Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo.
