DONALD L. ROBINSON

    Donald L. Robinson, 78, of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, formerly of Quincy, Illinois, died at 7:10 p.m., Tuesday (February 12, 2008) in the Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

   Born December 21, 1929 in Pittsfield, Illinois, Don was the son of Amos W. and Helen E. Cooper Robinson. He married Arlis E. Lange on June 2, 1951 in Quincy. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2001. Arlis passed away on March 21, 2002. He married Patricia Hobin on December 24, 2004. She survives.

    Mr. Robinson graduated from Pittsfield Community High School in 1948. He saw two years of service in the Army during the Korean conflict. After discharge from the service, he attended and graduated from The College of Mortuary Science in St. Louis and worked at several funeral homes before purchasing the Zehender Funeral Home in 1961, which later became the Zehender Robinson Stormer Funeral Home. While living in Quincy and operating the funeral home, he was quite active in the local community as a Mason, a Shriner, a member of the Lion's Club, the Elk's Lodge, and as a board member of the Sunset Home.

   Mr. Robinson sold the funeral home in 1978 to the Cookson family, retiring to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, where he was the developer of Bayshores Estates and owner of Pointe West Resort and Motel.

    Survivors include his wife Patricia; a sister Eileen Syrcle of Pittsfield; four daughters, Audree L. Palmquist and her husband Timothy of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Lori A. Wilson and her husband Wade of Raleigh, North Carolina; Rebecca L. Pieper of Eureka Springs, Arkansas and Traci B. Robinson of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Timothy Wilson and his wife Karah, Sara McPherson and her husband Ian, Melissa Wilson, Abby Pieper and Jordan Pieper; two great-grandchildren, Bailee Wilson and Aidan McPherson; a brother in law, Wade Braymen of Quincy; and many loving step children, step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
 

   Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Arlis; and a sister, Deloris Braymen.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Gary Schluckebier. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
   

   Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
