DONALD LYNN MAHANNAH

Lynn Mahannah, 88, of The Golden Good Shepherd Home formerly of Quincy, and Katy, TX completed his baptismal journey at 4:55 am Sunday (January 10, 2010) in the home.

Born September 8, 1921 in Salem, S.D., Lynn was the son of Albert Henry and Etta Mae Keefe Mahannah. He married Mary Ellen Homberger on December 27, 1945 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on March 16, 2007.

Lynn was an active member of the Unity Church and Grace United Methodist Church in Quincy and St. Peters United Methodist Church in Katy, TX. He was also a member the Ursa Lions Club, Quincy Masonic Lodge Number 296 and was a member and Past President of the American Postal Worker's Union. Lynn was well known for his volunteer work at the Quincy Museum and was instrumental in the restoration of the building. He also volunteered at Chaddock School and was an active supporter and volunteer in Boy Scout activities taking Explorer Scouts on canoe trips in Minnesota. He was devoted to his family and a wonderful caregiver to his wife during her illness. He served his country in the Navy during World War II and Korea receiving a purple heart in the invasion of Normandy.

Lynn was employed for over 25 years in the U.S. Post Office in Quincy and retiring as the Post Master in Ursa in 1979. After his retirement he worked at Wal-Mart in Colorado and Texas for several years.

Survivors include one daughter, Rosalie L. Post and her husband Curtis of Clayton, one son Gregory L. Mahannah and his wife Debbie of Katy, TX; three grandchildren Alan R. Post and his companion Lindsey of Clayton, Krista R. Wilson and her husband Keith of Golden, Katy Lynn Hall and her husband Bernhard of Katy, TX; five great grandchildren Kylie S. Wilson and Kwinn E. Wilson both of Golden, Makenna Lynn Post of Clayton and Natalie R. Hall and Issac B. Hall both of Katy, TX.

Mr. Mahannah was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters Lavon Ross and Irma Ward and one brother Lee Mahannah.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with the Rev. Linda Murray officiating. Private family Inurnment will take place at a later date.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 6:00 and Wednesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Golden Good Shepherd Home in Golden or the World War II Honor Flight Program.
