
DONALD R. ANTHONY
Mr. Donald R. Anthony, 80, of Labelle, MO., formerly of Quincy, died Sunday (May 20, 2007) in Kirksville, MO in the home of his good friends, Bill and Jan Ramsey.
Born December 2, 1926 in Quincy, Don was the son of William and Magdelin Maxine Bowen Anthony.
Don was a 20 year member of the Teamster Local #371 in Rock Island, IL. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and boating and loved guns and antique trucks. He was a loving father and grandfather who cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Anthony served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII aboard the USS Astoria receiving the WWII Victory Medal, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two stars, the Asiatic-Pacific Area Ribbon with five stars and the American Area Ribbon.
Don was employed as an over the road truck driver for 44 years until his retirement. He also owned a salvage business with his son Michael and often referred to himself as a "salvage technician."
Surviving is his life partner of 39 years and soul mate in death, Dixie Anthony of Lake Havasu City, AZ.; four sons, Michael Anthony of LaBelle, MO., Jeffrey Anthony of Lake Havasu City, AZ., Joey Anthony of Billings, MT., and Kevin Cole of OH.; seven daughters, his minor daughter Amber Anthony who lived with her mother in Lake Havasu City, AZ., Charity Roth-Griffith of Keosauzua, IA., Rhonda Fache of Phoenix, AZ., Dee McPherson and Heather Anthony, both of Lake Havasu City, AZ., Diana Loop of Baton Rouge, LA, and Susan of Rock Island, IL.; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and special friends, Elmer Dorley and his wife Delsie of Quincy and Bill Ramsey and his wife Jan of Kirksville, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Dakota John Anthony.
Cremation rites will be accorded to Mr. Anthony. Private family inurnment with military honors by Payson V.F.W. Post #2061 will be in Payson New Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Payson.
