DONALD UPPINGHOUSE

Mr. Donald L. M. Uppinghouse, 69, of Plainville, Illinois, died at 1:23 p.m. Sunday (October 30, 2005) in his home.

Born September 12, 1936 in Payson, Don was the son of Merle and Lily Seiz Uppinghouse. He married Pauline Wand on August 12, 1959 in Quincy. She survives.

Mr. Uppinghouse served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He raced stock cars and loved being outdoors gardening and farming and was known for growing sweetcorn to sell. He especially loved the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Uppinghouse was employed at Moorman Manufacturing and later as a driver and mechanic for Bilderback Truck Company, Arledge Trucking and Gem City Transfer. He retired as a heavy machine operator for Calcium Carbonate in Quincy.

Surviving is his wife, Pauline; five daughters, Rhonda Uppinghouse and her friend, Chris Michl and Jan Hutton and her friend, Jim Spencer both of Macomb, IL., Lisa Haught and her husband Mike of Hannibal, MO., Carla Uppinghouse of Peoria, IL. and Katrina Uppinghouse and her friend, Ted Albert of Golden, IL.; 15 grandchildren, Brandy, Brian and Dustin McCormick, Felicia, Cierra and Christopher Michl, Airica and Heather Uppinghouse and Cody Hutton all of Macomb, IL., Levi and Zachary Haught of Hannibal, MO.; Eric Flesner of Plainville, IL. and Kayla and Kasey Flesner and Jenna Uppinghouse all of Golden, IL.; a brother, Bluford "Doc" Uppinghouse and his wife Nadine of Payson; three sisters, Dorothy "Peck" Baugher of Payson, Alice Allensworth of Quincy and Shelby Shanks and her husband Leo of Plainville; a brother in law, Kenneth Campbell of Payson; a sister in law, Billie Mae Uppinghouse of Mountain View, MO.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Uppinghouse was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Delbert "Red", Lester and Roy Uppinghouse; a sister, Freida Campbell; two brothers in law, Norman "Pink" Baugher and Arlie Allensworth; and a sister in law,
June Uppinghouse.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Payson by the Rev. Ron Cox. Burial with Military Honors by Payson V. F. W. Post 2061 will be in the Payson New Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Wednesday until the time of services at the funeral home in Payson.
