DONNA M. EVANS
Mrs. Donna Marie Evans, 77, of 1230 Sycamore, Quincy, died at 3:20 p.m. Sunday (May 31, 2 009) in her home surrounded by her family.
Born March 1, 1932 in Pike County, Illinois near Seehorn, Donna was the daughter of Sam and Letha Swisher Howell. On February 14, 1975, Donna married the love of her life, Ronald D. Evans and united their families as one.
Donna was a member of New Beginnings Church. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, mushroom hunting, sewing and playing cards and will be remembered as a fantastic cook.
Donna devoted her life to her family and loved following her children and grandchildren's activities. She also worked as a waitress at the Coach House, a secretary for Manny Davis Construction and was the office manager for Gumm Construction for the past 20 years.
Survivors include her husband, Ron; seven children, Betty Brewer and her husband Jim of Normal, IL, James E. "Andy" Gumm Jr. of Maywood, MO, Pat Sederwall and her husband Bill of Quincy, Peggy Wesner and her husband Dan of St. Petersburg, FL, Matt Gumm and his wife Theresa "Terry" of Quincy, Rick Evans and his wife Shelly of Quincy and Mark Evans and his wife Dawn of Quincy; twenty grandchildren, Natosha Strohkirch, Courtney McMains and her husband Robert, Jason Gumm, Tammi Yohn and her husband Jesse, Adam Richmiller, Kristi Cookson and her husband Jerry, Cole Reeder, Marie Kondos and her husband Dan, Adam Paup, Alan Paup, Justin Gumm, Jerad Gumm, Tyler Peters and his wife Bryn, Jacob Peters, Audreana Evans, Ashley Evans, Richie Evans, Riley Evans, Abbey Evans and Alec Evans; seventeen great grandchildren, a brother, Robert Howell and his wife Juanita of Quincy; two sisters, Helen Clay and her husband Les of Orlando, FL, Betty Landess and her husband Donald of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Jennifer Schutte; three brothers, Raymond Howell, Edward Howell and Walter Howell; and four sisters, Deloris Connour, Jessie Surratt, Glenna Brass and Erma Cox.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy by Pastor Tom Henderson. Burial will be in Akers Chapel Cemetery near Plainville.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Thursday until the time of services at the funeral home.
