DOROTHY M. KIENTZLE
Dorothy M. Kientzle, 72, formerly of 3700 State St., died at 7:45 p.m. Saturday (January 12, 2008) in the home of her daughter Cindy Reichert.
Born April 12, 1935 in Fall Creek, IL, Dorothy was the daughter of Aloysius "Bud" and Marie Conner Meyer. She married Fred H. Kientzle, Jr. on June 2, 1956. He died October 23, 1985.
Dorothy was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and a longtime member of St. Boniface. Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family, grandchildren, and experiencing the birth of her great-granddaughter. "Grandma Dot" was also an avid fan of the Quincy Notre Dame tennis team during her granddaughters' high school years and the last few years attended all of the QND football games to cheer on her grandsons.
She was a 1952 graduate of Quincy High School. She had been employed by Packaging Corporation of America and Sheller Globe in Quincy.
Survivors include a son Fred H. Kientzle III and his wife Marti of Quincy; two daughters, Cindy Reichert and her husband Tim of Quincy and Chris Kientzle of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren, Lindsey Gully and her husband Rob of Springfield, MO, Ashley Reichert, Freddie Kientzle IV, Brandon Kientzle, Parker Kientzle and Faith Kientzle all of Quincy; a great granddaughter, Isabel Gully of Springfield, MO; a brother, Harold Meyer and his wife Doris Jean of Middlebury, IN; a sister Delors Wingerter and her husband Ronald of Quincy; a sister in law Bonnie Meyer of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kientzle was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother Junior Meyer.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 9:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Francis Church by the Rev. Kurt Hartrich. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Wednesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home. There will be a parish prayer service Tuesday evening at 4:00 at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Quincy Notre Dame Athletic Department, St. Francis Catholic Church or a mass requested in her memory would be greatly appreciated.
