DOROTHY L. SHIPP

Mrs. Dorothy L. Shipp, 84, of Winfield, Missouri, formerly of Philadelphia, Missouri, died Friday (September 28, 2007) in the Elsberry Health Care Center in Elsberry, Missouri.

Born September 12, 1923 in Quincy, Illinois, Dorothy was the daughter of James and Grace Wilkison Johnston. She married Delbert D. Shipp on April 7, 1946 in Quincy. He preceded her in death in 1990.

Mrs. Shipp was a member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church and the National Secretary's Association. Dorothy was honored by being named the National Secretary "Secretary of the Year". She enjoyed collecting and selling antiques and, in her younger years, she had her pilot's license and loved to fly.

Mrs. Shipp was employed as an Executive Secretary at Motorola for 30 years until her retirement.

Survivors include a son, James K. Shipp and his wife Diana of Winfield, MO.; two grandchildren, Kevin J. Shipp and his wife Michelle and Valerie L. Shipp and her fiance' Ed Komperda; two great grandchildren, Parker James Shipp and Dillon Komperda; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Shipp was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delbert; a brother, William Johnston; and a sister, Norma Johnston.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Lou Zuck. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 and Tuesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
