Mr. Edward A. Chledowski, 91, of the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, formerly of Chicago, died at 6:03 p.m. Saturday (December 22, 2007) in the emergency room of Blessing Hospital.

Born December 27, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois, Edward was the son of Frank and Katherine Moll Chledowski. He spent many of his childhood years in Poland, but as a young man, he and his brother, John, returned to Chicago.

Mr. Chledowski was of the Catholic Faith. Edward was training with the British Royal Air Force as a navigator before joining the U.S. Army Air Corps where he served as a Master Sergeant during WW II. He flew 25 missions over Germany as the Navigator on a B-17.

Mr. Chledowski owned and operated a flower shop in Chicago and also operated a tavern and delicatessen with his brother, John. He moved to the Illinois Veteran's Home in Quincy in 1999.

Survivors include a nephew, John C. Chledowski of Maywood, IL.; and two great nieces, Sarah E. Chledowski and Hannah K. Chledowski.

Mr. Chledowski was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, John V. Chledowski.

Graveside services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:00 in the Maryhill Cemetery, 8600 Milwaukee Ave., Niles, Illinois by Deacon Charlie O'Donnell.

There is no visitation, but friends are invited to the services. The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home, 1435 State Street, Quincy, IL. is in charge of the arrangements.
