ELIZABETH CASTLE

Mrs. Elizabeth Castle, 83, of 2910 Vermont, died at 9:57 a.m. Tuesday (February 22, 2005) in her home.

Born June 20, 1921 in Quincy, Mrs. Castle was the daughter of Walter Riley and Bertie Ellen Webb Jessup. She married Edmund "Bud" Castle Jr. on August 6, 1938 in Palmyra, Missouri. He died July 18, 1984.

Mrs. Castle was a member of First Southern Baptist Church where she taugh Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed Bingo and flower gardening and loved to travel to visit with family and friend.

Mrs. Castle was a key operator at Motorola and then a stock clerk at Harris Corp. for many years until her retirement. Following her retirement, she worked at Dixie Cream Donuts and then as a sitter for Sunset Supportive Services until her health prevented her from caring for others.

Survivors include a son, Edmund S. Castle III and his wife Karen of Mendon, IL.; three daughters, Patsy L. Strothoff of Oklahoma City, OK., Judith A. Smith and her husband Richard of Yuma, AZ. and Ginger B. Durst and her husband Paul of Quincy; 18 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a sister, Christina MacFadden of Brookfield, FL.; and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Castle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two great grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Pryor; and seven brothers, James Irvin, Elmer Alvin, Earl "Buddy" and Archie Jessup and three in infancy.

Graveside services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 in Quincy Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
