
ELMO HIGGINS
Mr. Elmo Higgins, 80, of Litchfield, IL., formerly of Quincy, died Monday (May 1, 2006) in his home.
Born October 25, 1925 in Quincy, Elmo was the son of Richard and Bessie Winget Higgins. He married Betty Maxine Hudelson on November 22, 1947. She died August 24, 1994.
Elmo was a member of Boilermaker Union Local #363 in Belleville, IL., the Rocky Point Club and enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII receiving the Philippine Liberation Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal with three stars.
Mr. Higgins was employed as a boilermaker in the Belleville area from 1951 until his retirement in 1985.
Surviving are two daughters, Margie Hills and her husband Kelly and Sandy Karlson and her husband David, both of Gillespie, IL.; a son, Larry Higgins of Quincy; ten grandchildren, Elmo Higgins and Lacey Higgins, both of Quincy, Angela Higgins of Mendon, Mandi Higgins of Wentzville, MO., Stacy Klosterman of Quincy, Renee Sawyer and her husband Brian of Litchfield, Jeff May and his wife Niki of Hillsboro, IL., Rachel Warfield and her husband Mike of Louisville, KY., Todd May and his wife Kristina of Wordon, IL. and Kevin May of Mt. Olive, IL.; sixteen great grandchildren; and a brother, Jerry Higgins and his wife Betty of Hurst, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Richard Higgins; and a sister, Dorothy Delpetro.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. George Tomko. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
