ELSIE LONG
Mrs. Elsie Long, 88, formerly of 1480 Hampshire, died at 10:08 a.m. Wednesday (November 8, 2006) in the Sycamore Health Care Center.
Born September 13, 1918 in near Canton, Illinois, Elsie was the daughter of Clarence and Alta Throne Busby. She married Leverett "Levy" Long on June 18, 1947 in Macomb, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 7, 1999.
Mrs. Long was a member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church where she was active with the Circle Sunday School Class. She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star and volunteered for many years at the Blessing Hospital Tea Room.
Mrs. Long dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker who took great pride in keeping her home beautiful. She was a great cook.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Lee of Quincy; two half sisters, Rhonda Garrett and her husband Milton of Mora, New Mexico and Brenda Bollin and her husband Calvin of Nauvoo, IL.; a half brother, James Busby and his wife Sharon of Beardstown, IL.; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Levy.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Lou Zuck. Burial will be in the Ellington Home Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Unity Church of Quincy or the Sycamore New Horizons Activity Fund.
