
ESTHER MAY FLOWERS
Mrs. Esther May Flowers, 73, of 828 April Ave., died at 9:38 a.m. Tuesday (March 28, 2006) in Blessing Hospital.
Born May 10, 1932 in Quincy, IL., Esther was the daughter of Jesus and Idella Cline McColez Sr. She married Russell L. Flowers on March 17, 1954 in Vandalia, MO. He died March 19, 1975.
Esther was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and a former member of the Moose. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who cherished the time she spent with her family.
Mrs. Flowers was employed as a caregiver in various homes in Quincy for several years.
Surviving are five daughters, Paula Kim Meyer and her husband Bill of Loraine, IL., Dolores "Hoey" Blackford and her husband Jim of Hunnewell, MO., Toni Eddy of Quincy, Sherry Willingham and her husband Dennis of Quincy and Debbie Wisdom and her husband Jerry of Hannibal, MO.; a son, Russell L. Flowers Jr. and his wife Doris of Quincy; 16 grandchildren, Harry Jay Jenkins, Dawn Jenkins, Sindi Norfolk and her husband Shawn, Josh Meyer, Brian Flowers, Sharona Smith, Bobbi Jo Smith, Shelly Flowers and her fiance Jimmy, Kimberly Flowers and her companion Willy, Robbie Eddy, Jason Eddy, Jimmy Eddy and his fiancee Megan, Jessica Eddy, Emily Willingham, Dylan Willingham and Mitchell Wisdom; 14 great grandchildren; and a sister, Frances Watson of Quincy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Junior McColez and Terrel McColez; and seven sisters, Ruth Meyer, Petronella Jolley, Felipa Paup, Jacqueline McColez, Josephine Sullivan, Pauline Iwanski and infant Mildred Ayala.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 9:30 at St. Boniface Catholic Church by Rev. John Kennedy. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 at the funeral home.
