ESTHER C. PETERS

Mrs. Esther C. Peters, 96, of Sunset Home, died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday (January 21, 2006) in the home.

Born February 20, 1909 in Quincy, Esther was the daughter of Joseph and Catherine Tensing Borghorst. She married Ernest A. "Ernie" Berglind on August 26, 1928 in Quincy. He died on December 22, 1937. She married B. Kenneth Peters on April 15, 1939 in Hannibal, Missouri. He died August 29, 1974.

Esther was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church. She worked at various bakeries in Quincy and at the jewelry counter at Quincy Supply before becoming a caregiver for Adams County Home Health Care, where she worked until her retirement.

Survivors include her daughter, Jody Hogge and her husband Duane of Quincy; two grandsons, Jeff Hogge and David Hogge and his wife Martha both of Quincy; three great grandchildren, Matthew Hogge, Katie Hogge and Ben Hogge all of Quincy; a sister, Maxine Beckman; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Peters was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter in law, Sue Hogge; and two brothers, Arthur Borghorst and Wilfred "Bill" Borghorst.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 in the Sunset Home Chapel by the Rev. Roy Bauer. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday morning from 8:30 until the time of services at the Sunset Home Chapel. The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
