ETHEL MAE BAKER
Mrs. Ethel Mae Baker, 86, of Sunset Home, formerly of 922 North 11th and Ursa, died at 5:00 a.m. Monday (February 26, 2007) in Sunset Home.
Born December 20, 1920 in Ursa Township, Ethel was the daughter of Floyd E. and Hannah R. Hoskins Stroud. She married Benjamin W. Baker on August 19, 1939 in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 23, 1981.
Mrs. Baker was a member of New Beginnings Evangelical Free Church. She trapped with her husband and later by herself and loved to attend the Quincy Police Academy through the Senior Citizens Center.
Ethel was employed for 23 years as custodian for Ursa Christian Church and Lima Federated Church and also as a domestic housekeeper. She later worked at the Maid-Rite in Quincy until her retirement on January 1, 2006.
Surviving is her daughter, Mary Hull and her husband Gerald of Quincy; a son in law, Gary Dean Hull of Mendon; four granchildren, Warren M.D. Hull and his wife Kara of Ursa, Gary Kris Hull of Paris, IL., Benjamin L. Hull of Quincy and Hannah M. Hull of St. Louis, MO.; and five great grandchildren, Kailey M.D. Hull and Karson D. Hull both of Ursa and Alexis Hull, Zachary D. Haistings-Hull and Jared Krallman all of Quincy; a sister in law, Virginia Stroud of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Sonja Marie Hull; an infant son, Marvin Dean Baker; six sisters, Edna Stroud, Effie Stroud, Eva Nora McCready, Erma Wear, Edith Young and Elva Chesnutt; and three brothers, William, James and DeWitt Stroud.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Tom Henderson. Burial will be in New Providence Cemetery near Ursa.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Wednesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the New Beginnings Evangelical Free Church, Sunset Home or the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
