ETHEL MAY BROWDY

Ethel May Browdy, 96, of the Knox County Residential Care Center in Edina, Missouri, formerly of 917 Payson Ave., Quincy, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday (March 14, 2007) in the Care Center in Edina.

Born September 22, 1910 in Quincy, Ethel was the daughter of John and Lydia Ketter Alexander. She married Albert A. Browdy on August 8, 1942 in Quincy. He died September 15, 1994.

Ethel was an active member of Madison Park Christian Church where she had taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed bowling and sewing and loved helping others by volunteering at Blessing Hospital for 40 years.

Mrs. Browdy was a self employed seamstress for many years and had also worked as a seamstress for Roderick P. Miller.

Survivors include a daugher, Kathleen Xander and her husband Darrell of Edina, MO.; a son, Thomas Browdy of Florissant, MO.; five grandchildren, Steve Xander of Nashville, TN., Greg Xander and his wife Stacey of Kirksville, MO., Jeff Xander and his wife Gina of Cuba City, WI., Sarah Browdy of St. Louis, MO. and Jacob Browdy of Springfield, MO.; three great grandchildren, Natalee Mae Xander and Leah Nicole Xander both of Cuba City, WI. and Lauren Michelle Xander of Kirksville, MO..; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Browdy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers, Earl Alexander and Howard Alexander; and three sisters, Mildred Trimble, Velma Wellman and Louise Meador.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Keith Ehresman. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 and Saturday until the time of services at the funeral home.
