EVERETT YATES SR.

Everett Yates Sr., 98, of Sunset Home, formerly of 2046 Cedar, died at 8:10 p.m. Sunday (March 30, 2008) in the home.

Born July 26, 1909 in Quincy, Everett was the son of Edgar and Anna Schuerman Yates. He married Nellie Milliron on August 11, 1928 in Columbia, MO. She preceded him in death on February 8, 1993.

He enjoyed doing yardwork and gardening. Everett was a firefighter for the Quincy Fire Department for 28 years retiring in December of 1969. He was the oldest living retired firefighter in Quincy and a member of the local chapter of Retired Firefighters.

Survivors include two sons Everett Yates Jr. and his wife Norma of Quincy and Donald Yates and his wife Donna of Arvada, CO; five grandchildren Tom Yates and his wife Betty of Quincy, Mike Yates and his wife Michelle of Centennial, CO, Jeff Yates and his wife Lisa of Tulsa, OK, Therese Hendricks and her finace` Mike Slothouber of Quincy and Nancy Alms and her husband Matt of Littleton, CO; 10 great grandchildre; 11 great great granchildren; a sister in law Christine Yates of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Yates was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers Edgar, Emmett and Richard Yates and three sisters Bessie Borton, Margaret Lee and Ellen Bright.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Brother Ed Arambasich. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held Thursday morning from 9:30 until the time of the service at the funeral home.
