
GEORGETTA AUSTIN
Mrs. Georgetta Austin, 61, of 500 Maine Street, died at 10:00 a.m. Sunday (May 7, 2006) in Blessing Hospital.
Born January 8, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri, Georgetta was the daughter of Rev. George and Melvina Penny Mann. She was married to Rev. Elmer Lee Austin. He preceded her in death.
Georgetta was a member of the First Baptist Church.
A graduate of Quincy High School and John Wood Community College, Georgetta was employed as an L. P. N. at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, St. Mary Hospital and the Illinois Veterans Home. She was also a teacher and assistant to the Director of Frederick Ball Daycare Center from 1979 to1984. She was currently employed by the West Central Illinois Center for Independent Living as a personal assistant coordinator.
Surviving are two sons, Maurice Austin and his wife Luana of Los Angeles, CA., and Christopher Austin and his wife Je'Ta'ime of Quincy; a daughter, Treyona Hickman of Quincy; nine grandchildren, Maurice D. Austin II, Maurissa Diamond Austin, Xavyer Austin, Tajzhan'e Austin, Marsalys Austin, Maggie Austin, Nathaly Austin, Marcus Vaughn and Malachi Common;
a brother, George Victor Mann of Los Angeles, CA.; five sisters, Shirley Cartwright, Carol Simpson and her husband Alvin and Deborah Kemp and her husband, Rev. Tony Kemp all of Quincy, Brenda Winslow and her husband Wendell and Alicia Manley and her husband Johnell both of Chicago; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Georgetta was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Barbara Moore.
Funeral services will be held Saturday evening at 6:00 in the First Baptist Church by the Pastor Tony Kemp and Timothy Simpson.
Visitation will be Saturday afternoon from 4:00 until the time of services at First Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be held Monday morning at 10:00 in Greenmount Cemetery by the Rev. Orville Jones. The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
