Ms. Geraldine E. "Gerry" Rees, 79, of 639 York, formerly of 101 N. 4th and 717 Madison, died at 1:25 p.m. Saturday (January 14, 2006) in her home.

Born July 2, 1926 in Winnebago, MN., Gerry was the daughter of Edmund and Elsie Biddle Olson Sr.

Ms. Rees was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Altar Society, the Women of the Moose, the Eagles Auxiliary and the Salvation Army Auxiliary. She was also an active volunteer at Sunset Home for several years.

Gerry was employed at K-Mart in Quincy for 15 years retiring in 1986.

Surviving is her son, Chuck Rees and his wife Victoria of Hardy, AR.; Janet Langwisch of New Melle, MO.; ten grandchildren; one great grandson; her brother, Ed Olson and his wife Martha of Palmyra, MO.; her sister, Vivian Sparks of Maywood, MO.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Joe W. Rees; and one sister.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 9:30 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 10:00 at St. Mary Catholic Church by Monsignor Mike Kuse. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 at the funeral home with a Christian Wake Service at 5:00 and an Eagles Auxiliary Service at 7:00.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or Shiloh Christian Children's Ranch.
