
VIRGINIA SELBY CAMPBELL
Mrs. Virginia Ruth Selby Campbell, of 2809 Maine, died at 4:39 p.m. Friday (April 1, 2005) in Blessing Hospital.
Born June 18, 1916, in Fulton, Missouri, Virginia was the daughter of William and Mary Alice Wolka Backer.
She married Forrest Selby on June 6, 1937, in Kansas City, Missouri. He died April 14, 1970. She married Noel F. Campbell on February 14, 1971, in Quincy. He died October 29, 2000.
Ginny was a member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church and the Women's City Club where she was a former Board Member. She was a longtime volunteer at Blessing Hospital and an Emeritus Member of the Blessing Hospital Board and was an active supporter of the Quincy Humane Society. Ginny was an avid golfer and loved to play cards, especially bridge.
Ginny was employed at a printing company in Fulton, Missouri, for 4 years until her marriage to Mr. Selby. She and her husband moved to Quincy in 1945 and founded the Selby Implement Company.
Survivors include two daughters, Dayle Mixer and her husband Devon of Blue Springs, MO. and Susan Pepperdine and her husband Larry of Fairway, KS.; a son, Kenneth Selby and his wife Carol of Rantoul, IL.; two step daughters, Kay Criley and her husband Dave of Santa Rosa, CA., and Nancy Rude of Sunnyvale, CA.; a step son, Clarke Campbell and his wife Glenda of Maynard, IA.; five grandchildren, Deanne Stegeman and her husband Rick of Glen Carbon, IL., Debra Rose and her husband Jerry of Parker, CO., Cynthia Dodge and her husband James of Springfield, IL., Rebecca Fields and her husband Ron of Rantoul, IL., and Valerie Duff and her husband Thomas of Bourbonnis, IL.; two step grandchildren, Laurie Gustafson and her husband Rick of Menlo Park, CA. and Kevin Rude of Sunnyvale, CA.; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.
Mrs. Campbell was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a step son, Bruce Campbell; a step grandson, David Criley; six brothers, one in infancy; an infant sister; and two half sisters.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Lou Zuck. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday afternoon from 12:30 until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Quincy Humane Society, Vermont Street United Methodist Church or the St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.
