GLORIA PENROSE

Mrs. Gloria Penrose, 80, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 2126 Rancho Blvd., died at 8:00 p.m. Saturday (July 23, 2005) at Good Samaritan Home.

Born August 21, 1924 in Quincy, Gloria was the daughter of Jesse and Anna Hedger Vorndam. She married Joseph O. Penrose on July 23, 1941 in St. Charles, Missouri. He died on March 3, 1982.

Mrs. Penrose was employed as an L. P. N. at St. Mary Hospital for 12 years and then at the Park Manor Group Home until her retirement.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Atkins and her husband Donald and Patricia Gibleon both of Quincy; a son, Rolle Penrose and his wife Sharon of Quincy; nine grandchildren, Kathy Glascock and her husband Bill, Darrel Joe Harness, Audrey Campbell, Jessica Atkins, Seth Atkins, Lorri Kanauss and her husband Alan, Bradley Penrose and his wife Amy and Derrick Penrose all of Quincy and Jamie Weyant and her husband Robert of Roseville, IL.; eight great grandchildren, Heather Glascock, Lorral Kanauss, Landon Kanauss, Shelby Penrose and Autumn Penrose all of Quincy and Jordan Penrose, Haley Penrose and Hannah Penrose all of Hannibal, MO. ; two sisters, Evelyn Warren and her husband Glen of Hillsboro, MO. and Ethel Buxman of Boulder, CO.; and several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Carol Coon of Quincy.

Mrs. Penrose was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son in law, Kenneth Gibleon; two great grandsons, Jason B. Penrose and Guy Gene Harness; two brothers, Elmo Vorndam and Dale Vorndam; and two sisters, Elaine Kline and Hazel Conner.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Henry Pratt. Burial will be in New Providence Cemetery near Ursa.

Visitation will be Tuesday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or the Good Samaritan Home.
