GRANT L. WITTLER

Mr. Grant L. Wittler, 86, of 1626 Madison, died at 5:25 p.m. Monday (June 6, 2005) in Blessing Hospital.

Born October 22, 1918 in Quincy, Grant was the son of Albert and Alice Huseman Wittler. He married Audrey A. Peck on July 6, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri. She survives.

Mr. Wittler was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ. He was a member of Macomb Masonic Lodge #17, Quincy Consistory, Mohammed Shrine Temple of Peoria, Quincy Shrine Club and Quincy High Twelve Club. He was also a member of the United Commercial Travelers, Elks Lodge #100 and the Quincy American Legion Post #37. He served his country in the U.S. Army retiring as a Major. He served during WWII and the Korean Conflict.

Grant was employed at the Quincy Social Security Office for 22 years as a field representative retiring March 22, 1979.

Also surviving are two daughters, Marsha Lee Wittler of Seaside, CA. and Mary K. "Kathy" Seidel of Quincy; two grandchildren, Anarion Lee Wittler and his wife Katy of Carmel, CA. and Christopher Mark Seidel of San Diego, CA.; and one great granddaughter, Seanna Wittler of Carmel, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Wittler; and one sister, Laverta Roberts.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. Wanda Seydel. Burial with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post #37 will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 and Friday morning until the time of services at the funeral home. Herman Masonic Lodge # 39 will conduct Masonic Services Thursday evening at 7:00 in the funeral home.
