HAROLD GEORGE ELLSWORTH

Mr. Harold G. Ellsworth, 88, of Good Samaritan Home, died at 7:30 a.m. Saturday (July 15, 2006) in Blessing Hospital.

Born March 14, 1918 in Quincy, Harold was the son of Carl H. and Mabel Grimmer Ellsworth. He first married Norma Hutchison in April of 1939 in Hannibal, MO. He later married Kathryn Gunlock on February 6, 1958 in Pittsfield, IL. She died November 29, 1980.

A Quincy native, Harold graduated from Quincy Senior High in 1936. He was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ and an active member of Salem Brotherhood. He was a past member of the Elks Lodge #100 and Loyal Order of the Moose. He enjoyed traveling and fishing and in his younger days playing tennis.

Mr. Ellsworth was employed in Santa Monica, CA. during WWII for Douglas Aircraft Company. He later moved to Dallas, TX. where he worked as a salesman for Certified Electric Corporation and then in Clinton, IA. as a salesman for Pillsbury Mills. He then returned to Quincy and started working for the Quincy Herald Whig on January 22, 1958. Harold retired from the Quincy Herald Whig in March of 1980 after a 22 year career as a display advertising representative.

Surviving is his son, Terry M. Ellsworth and his wife Karen of Lone Oak, TX.; two grandchildren, Michael Ellsworth and his wife Cami of Allen, TX. and Beth Ellsworth of Grapevine, TX.; five great grandchildren, Stephanie and Ashley Ellsworth of Wichita, KS. and Preston, Cailee and Brady Ellsworth, all of Allen, TX.; a great great granddaughter, Adelyn Marie of Wichita, KS.; a sister, Verona Colvin of Quincy; a nephew, Joe Colvin and his wife Janet; and two nieces, Barbara Hagenbaumer and her husband Edward and Jeanette Shrader, all of Quincy; and a special friend, Thelma Holcumbrink of Quincy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Lloyd Ellsworth.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. Wanda Seydel. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Friday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
