HARVEY D. FENGEL
Mr. Harvey D. Fengel, 76, of 515 Lenane Drive, formerly of 2320 Washington, died at 11:02 a.m. Monday (May 29, 2006) in Blessing Hospital.
Born November 16, 1929 in Richfield, Illinois, Harvey was the son of Herman and Anna Railey Fengel. He married Irma McClain on June 4, 1951 in Liberty, Illinois.
Mr. Fengel was a member Trinity United Church of Christ, Bodley Masonic Lodge No. 1, Quincy Consistory, Ansar Shrine Temple of Springfield, Quincy Shrine Club, where he was active in transporting children to the Shriner's Hospital in St. Louis, and was a past member of the Quincy Skeeter Patrol. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge No.100 and was a Past President of South Side Boat Club.
A graduate of Liberty High School, Harvey was employed as a security guard at the Illinois Veterans Home and then became associated with Quincy Heating and Air Conditioning. Later he became the owner and operator of Quincy Heating and Quincy Fire Equipment until his retirement.
Suriviving are two daughters, Trudy Johnson and her husband Mark and Judy Bjurstrom and her husband Ron of Wonderlake, IL.; two granddaughters, Nicole "Nikki" Sparrow of Alexandria, VA.and Wendy McLeod of .; two step daughters, Janet Oberling and Joyce Marshaus; two cousins, Lloyd Fengel of Payson and Dorothy Kramer of Lawton, OK.; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Fengel was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Chad T. Wear; three brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 in Trinity United Church of Christ by the Rev. Timothy White. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and Friday morning from 9:30 until the time of services at Trinity Church.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or the Diabetes Association.
