HELEN L. JOHNSON

Mrs. Helen L. Johnson, 88, of 1610 South 36th, died at 8:50 a.m. Monday (May 7, 2007) in Blessing Hospital.

Born January 7, 1919 in Quincy, Helen was the daughter of Fred and Marie "Mayme" Brickman Klusmeyer. She married Ingram "Bud" Anders on February 17, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1974. She married Russell J. "Gus" Johnson on September 27, 1975 in Quincy. He survives.

Helen was a member of St. James Lutheran Church. She loved to play cards with her card club, bird watching and was an avid fisherman. She loved to cook for everyone which she will be fondly remembered for.

Helen worked as a babysitter for Dr. Barber and a housekeeper for Dr. Sutherland. She later worked at
J. C. Penny at 6th & Maine for several years.

Survivors include her husband, Gus; a son, Mike Anders and his wife Sherry Arp-Anders of Glen Carbon, IL.; a daughter, Mary Lou Lickfeld and her husband Fritz of Quincy; two step sons, Robert Michael Johnson and his wife Ila and John C. Johnson and his wife Janine both of Quincy; a step daughter, Mary Lou Niemann and her husband Dave of Quincy; four grandchildren, Mark Lickfeld and his wife Darla of Rapid City, S.D., Dawn Finnigan of Fowler, Kris White and her husband Jeff of Liberty and Kelly Anne Anders and her fiance' Louis Zehnder of Oxford, MS.; nine step grandchildren, Kelly Hopson and her husband Bob of Juneau, AK., Scott Niemann and his wife Katie of Mt. Vernon, WA., Michael Johnson and his wife Amy of Kenosha, WI., Jennifer Ottinger and her husband Eric of Denver, CO., Matthew Johnson and his wife Jennifer of Green Bay, WI., Jeffrey Johnson and his wife Anne of Chicago, IL., Joshua Johnson and his wife Brienna of Quincy, Greg Schneider and his wife Susie of Springfield, IL. and Mark Schneider of Quincy; six great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, William "Bud" Klusmeyer and Robert Klusmeyer; and a sister, Mildred Anders.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Marlin Rempfer. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Thursday until the time of services at the funeral home.
