
JACK R. WOLKITT SR.
Mr. Jack R. Wolkitt Sr., 79, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of 1804 Jackson, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday (February 3, 2008) in Blessing Hospital.
Born May 27, 1928 in Quincy, Jack was the son of Charles M. and Elsie M. Stark Wolkitt. He married Elaine L. LeMay on June 19, 1948 in Quincy. She survives.
Jack was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ, Fraternal Order of Eagles and North Side Boat Club. Jack enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman.
Jack worked various jobs in Quincy before becoming a bartender and manager with his father at Pig Ear Charlie's at 5th & College. He was later employed at Midwest Premier Linen & Towel Service where he retired as sales manager in 1970.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine; a son, Jack R. Wolkitt II of Quincy; a granddaughter, Jennifer L. Stevenson and her husband Douglas of Meridian, MS.; a brother, Charles P. Wolkitt and his wife Norma of Quincy; a sister, Betty L. Unmisig of Quincy; an uncle, Lewis Stark of Quincy; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wolkitt was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother in law, William Unmisig.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. Wanda Seydel. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Blessing Cancer Center or the charity of the donor's choice.
