JAMES D. HESS
Mr. James D. Hess, 72, of 824 North 11th, Quincy, died at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday (June 30, 2009) in Blessing Hospital.
Born May 15, 1937 in Quincy, James was the son of James Forrest and Ethel Barlow Hess. He married Joan Marie Griggs on January 19, 1957 in Quincy. She survives.
James attended Riverside Community Church. An avid trout fisherman, he also loved his dog, Missy and enjoyed working on his farm, gardening and camping.
Mr. Hess was employed at Quincy Soybean for 30 years, retiring in 1994 as West Plant Supervisor.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; a daughter, Vanena Ogle of Mendon, IL; two sons, David Hess of Quincy and Steven Hess and his wife Marcy of Clayton, IL; seven grandchildren, William Ogle and his wife Marcy of Tioga, IL, Tim Ogle and his wife Stephanie of Loraine, IL, Heath Totsch and his wife Donnie of South Carolina, Micaha Hess of Quincy, Kristel Schroder of Columbia, MO, Chassidy Schroder of LaGrange, MO and Lindsey Hess of Clayton, IL; three great grandchildren; three brothers, Earl Hess of Quincy, Russel Hess and his wife Virginia of Quincy and Gene Hess and his wife Desiree of Boise, ID; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hess was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Christine Schroder; a granddaughter, Danielle Hess; a son in law, Bill Ogle; a sister, Barbara Dyer; and three brothers, Richard Tukesbury, Alan Hess and Gerald Hess.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. V. Lee Amsler. Burial will be in Harwood Cemetery near Siloam Springs.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday until the time of services at the funeral home.
