JAMES E. WELLS
Mr. James E. Wells, 95, of Sycamore Health Care Center, formerly of 2601 Turner Road, Quincy, died at 7:58 a.m. Tuesday (October 6, 2009) in the home.
Born May 12, 1914 near Rockport, Illinois, James was a son of James H. and Abby Marie Fuller Wells. He married Caroline E. Waigand on March 10, 1934 in Pittsfield, Illinois. She preceded him in death on March 4, 1987.
James was a graduate of New Canton High School. He was a member of United Commercial Travelers and enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting.
He was the owner and operator of Wells Auto Wrecking for over 50 years, retiring in 1984.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Mack and her husband Donald of Dundee, IL and Vicki Motley of Boulder City, NV; two sons, Jerry Wells and his wife Henrietta of Quincy and Eddie Wells and his wife Pat of Jonesboro, AR; thirteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Hattie Bower of Beverly, IL; a sister in law, Rose Wells of Louisiana, MO; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wells was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Caroline; a granddaughter in infancy; two brothers, Gerald C. Wells and Archie Wells; and two sisters, Emma Doran and Louise Phillips.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Rev. Henry Pratt officiating. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, near Atlas, Illinois.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday morning until the time of the service at the funeral home.
