JAMES A. WILSON
James A. Wilson, of the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, formerly of Moline, died at 3:25 a.m. Monday (October 29, 2007) in Blessing Hospital.
Born August 11, 1927 Jim was the son of Clyde and Eva Adams Wilson. He married Anna Stephens on August 10, 1984 in Moline, Illinois. She survives.
Jim was a member of the Fifteenth Avenue Christian Church in Rock Island, the Illinois Police Benevolent Association in Peoria and the Am Vets. Mr. Wilson served his country in the Army during WWII and Korea serving part of that time as a Military Police officer. He enjoyed traveling, antiquing and also wrote a book about his police experiences entitled "Not On My Watch".
Mr. Wilson was a graduate of the F.B.I. Academy. He was employed by the Peoria Police Department from 1958 until 1981 and then worked as a parole officer for the state of Illinois from 1981 until 1990. Mr. Wilson also operated Nana's Attic Antique Store in Moline.
Survivors include his wife Anna, a son Jeffery Wilson and his wife Angela of Washington, IL; two step daughters, Pamela Greiner and her husband Dr. Thomas of Moline and Karen Lachenauer and her husband Howard of Dumont, New Jersey; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, a brother and a step son Rick.
Cremation rites have been accorded to Mr. Wilson. A Memorial service will be held Monday morning at 10:00 in the All Faiths Chapel at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy by the Rev. John Adams.
Military Graveside services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 at the Rock Island National Cemetery. The family has requested that friends and family gather at the Radison Hotel Tuesday afternoon at 1:45 to go as a group to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activity Fund.
