JANIE L. EVANS

Mrs. Janie L. Evans, 83, of Quincy, died at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday (December 1, 2009) in Blessing Hospital

Born February 26, 1926 in Exeter, Illinois, Janie was the daughter of Claude and Della M. Seeman Brackett. She married Clement "Red" Evans on January 16, 1942 in Winchester, Illinois. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1993.

Janie enjoyed camping, especially in Minnesota, but her greatest love was her family and she enjoyed babysitting for her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Evans had been employed at Motorola.

Survivors include a sister, Mary M. Cookson of Quincy; a daughter in law, Carol Evans Small and her husband Garry of Canton, MO; three grandchildren, Sherry Schaefer, Mary Jane Sprinkle and her husband Larry and Jerrod Evans and his wife Beth; six great grandchildren, Evan Sprinkle, Emily Sprinkle, Elizabeth Sprinkle, Conner Schaefer, Morgan Evans and Brock Evans; three great great grandchildren, Dreighton Sprinkle, Delanie Sprinkle and Pearce Keller Sprinkle; a sister in law, Delores Evans; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Jerry Evans; a sister, June Crumley; and two brothers, Albert Brackett in infancy and Robert Brackett.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Connie Jenkins. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Friday until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the QHS Girls Soccer or QHS Boys Baseball programs.
