JOANN "NAN" NAGEL

Mrs. JoAnn B. "Nan" Nagel, 73, of 2325 Hampshire, went to be with her Lord and Saviour at 7:45 a.m. Thursday (August 11, 2005) in Blessing Hospital.

Born January 28, 1932 in Quincy, JoAnn was the daughter of Marion and Helen Arnold Bottorff. She married David A. Nagel on October 11, 1952 in Quincy. He survives.

Nan was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ where she was active in Evening Guild, Fireside Club and Vacation Bible School. She was a 1950 graduate of Quincy High School and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Quincy College. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and the Quincy Women's City Club where she enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge. She was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed playing the piano. Nan was a mentor to many Jr. High students through the Child Family Mentor Program. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who cherished the time she spent with her family.

Mrs. Nagel was employed in the office of the Quincy Area Safety Council and then taught at Monroe School for several years until her retirement.

Also surviving are two sons, Ronald D. Nagel and his wife Chris of Ewing, MO. and John F. Nagel of Southlake, TX.;three daughters, Chris Giaraffa and her husband Bob of Round Rock, TX., Kathryn "Kathy" Irvin and Amanda Schuering and her husband Bill, both of Quincy; 11 grandchildren, Susan Nowell and her husband Patrick of Warrensburg, MO., Janet Nagel of Palmyra, MO., Laura Nagel and Ronald D. "R.D." Nagel II, both of Ewing, MO., Sarah Nagel of Kalamazoo, MI., Abigail Nagel of Lewisville, TX., August "Joe" Nagel of Southlake, TX., Matthew Bowers of San Marcos, TX., Alexis Giaraffa of Round Rock, TX., Timothy "T.J." Schuering and Nicholas Schuering, both of Quincy; four great grandchildren, Ian Graham of Quincy, Isaac Nagel and Quinn Fox, both of Kalamazoo, MI., and Austyn Miles Nowell of Warrensburg, MO.; and one brother, M.R. "Ron" Bottorff and his wife Virginia of Newbury Park, CA, and one niece and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Jayme Irvin Graham.

Mrs. Nagel donated her body to medical science. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service Monday morning at 11:00 in Trinity United Church of Christ. Family will meet friends from 10:00 until the time of services at the church. The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
