
JOSEPH A. THOMAS
Mr. Joseph A. Thomas, 61, of 623 Lind, died at 9:48 p.m. Wednesday (July 6, 2005) in St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.
Born March 27, 1944 in Quincy, Joseph was the son of Carl and Rose Ann Mixer Thomas and was raised in the home of his grandparents, Johnnie and Bessie Mixer. He married Shirley J. Failor on FEbruary 1, 1971 in Palmyra, Missouri. She survives.
Mr. Thomas will be remembered as a caring and giving person who loved to help others any way he could. His greatest joy came when he spent time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Mr. Thomas was currently employed as a construction laborer for Labor Local 231.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; four daughters, Barbara Morris and her husband Duane, Brenda Schumm and Wanda Mason and her husband Timothy all of Quincy and Sherri Crepps and her husband David of Mendon; two sons, John Thomas and his wife Becky and Bryan J. Thomas Sr. and his wife Hope both of Quincy; 13 grandchildren, James and Jeremy Orr, Paul, Henry and Cameron Schumm, Alexis and Cody Osborne, Trinity Thomas, Jacob Thomas, Dallas and Bryan J. Thomas Jr. all of Quincy, and Dennis and Austin Crepps both of Mendon; a half sister, Carla Waidmann and her husband Michael of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; and a daughter in infancy, Virginia Thomas.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Joby Brown. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Tuesday until the time of services at the funeral home.
