JOHN S. LUBBERT

Mr. John S. Lubbert, 74, of 2427 Summer Creek, died at 5:35 a.m. Tuesday (June 6, 2006) in his home.
Born October 1, 1931 in Quincy, John was the son of Walter and Marion Summers Lubbert. He married Dorothy M. Koontz on September 18, 1955 in the Columbus Christian Church. Mr. and Mrs. Lubbert celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary last September.

Mr. Lubbert was a member of Melrose Chapel United Methodist Church, Mississippi Valley Hunters and Fishermen and the McGee Creek Coon Hunters Club. John was an avid hunter and enjoyed woodworking and playing cards. Mr. Lubbert served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Lubbert was employed for 46 years for Carpenter's Local 189 until his retirement in 1997.

Survivors inlcude his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Randall Lubbert of Carbondale, IL. and William Lubbert of Ft. Bragg, California; four daughters, Tamara Lubbert of Dallas, TX., Barbara Lubbert of Quincy, Debra Lubbert of Grand Prairie, TX. and Donna Leffman and her husband David of El Paso, TX.; three grandchildren, Daniel Leffman, Douglas Leffman and Dara Leffman all of El Paso, TX.; four brothers, Charles Lubbert and his wife Muriel, Robert Lubbert and his wife Betty and David Lubbert and his wife Judy all of Quincy and Chuck Lubbert and his wife Joyce of Mendon; two sisters, Marie Porth and her husband Donald and Ruth Ann Lubbert both of Dallas, TX.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lubbert was preceded in death by his parents; and his In-Laws, Russell and Esther Koontz.

Memorial services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 in Melrose Chapel United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Quincy Memorial Park.

There will be no visitation, but friends are invited to the services. The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to Melrose Chapel or Sheridan Swim Club to plant a tree in honor of Mr. Lubbert.
