Mr. Joseph William Daegele, 98, of the Sunset Home, formerly of 823 South 9th, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday (May 25, 2006) in Sunset Home.
Born April 24, 1908 in Quincy, Joseph was the son of John Joseph and Emma Stackelback Daegele. He married Leona S. Clingingsmith on October 28, 19034 in Quincy. She died June 28, 1999.
A 1926 graduate of Quincy High School, Mr. Daegele served in the Illinois National Guard for 3 years. He was employed for several years at Dick Brothers Brewery and later for Harvey Furniture Company until his retirement in 1972.
Surviving are two sisters in law, Edith Haney and June Clingingsmith both of Quincy: and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Daegele was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, Roy Daegele.
Graveside services will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 in Greenmount Cemetery by the Rev. Robert Morwell.
There will be no visitation, but friends are invited to the services. The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
