
KENNY SAEGER
Mr. Kenneth E. "Kenny" Saeger, 85, of 2505 Oak, died at 3:55 a.m. Friday (March 18, 2005) in Blessing Hospital.
Born November 20, 1919, in Quincy, Mr. Saeger was the son of Frederick William and Emma Wilhelmina Bauch Saeger. He married Norma Degitz on December 2, 1944, in Salem Church in Quincy. Mr. and Mrs. Saeger celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary last December.
Mr. Saeger was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ where he was a former Undershepherd, Usher and Greeter. He was also a 50 year member of Herman Lodge No. 39 and the Quarter Century Club at Colt Industries. Mr. Saeger was a die hard Cubs and Bears fan and enjoyed Blue Devil Basketball ,Illini Basketball and League Bowling at Casino Lanes with his son in law.
Mr. Saeger was employed as a machinist for over 30 years at Quincy Compressor - Colt Industries until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, Norma; a daughter, Charolette Meyer and her husband Jim of Fowler; a son, John W. Saeger and his wife Lynn of Hattiesburg, MS.; five grandchildren, J. Ian Meyer of Urbana, IL. and his girlfriend Brandy Snook of Decatur, IL., Justin Meyer of Fowler, IL. and his fiance' Ashley Klinginsmith of Liberty, IL., Jason Saeger and Abby Saeger of Ottumwa, IA. and Corrie Saeger of Ft. Madison, IA.; one great grandchild; a brother, Frank Saeger and his wife Arlene of Quincy; and two sisters, Irene Hunter of Fenton, MO. and Lucille Dearwester of Paloma, IL.; a sister in law, Evelyn Mitchell and her husband James of Springfield, IL; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; and his beloved dog, Missy, and his grand dog Patches. He is also survived by extra special neighbors, Leon and Margie Giles.
Mr. Saeger was an extremely devoted and loving husband, dad and grandpa whose greatest joy was the time he spent with his family. He will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
Mr. Saeger was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William F. Saeger and his wife Arlene and Harold Saeger and his wife Wilma; and two brothers in law, George Hunter and Monte Dearwester.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Wanda Seydel. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 and Tuesday until the time of services at the funeral home. Herman Lodge No. 39 will conduct Masonic services Monday evening at 7:00 in the funeral home.
