KERRY H. MAXWELL
Mr. Kerry H. Maxwell, 85, of 4413 Cedar Ridge Drive, formerly of 1200 Kochs Lane, died at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (June 11, 2006) in his home.
Born February 18, 1921 in Quincy, Kerry was the son of Carson Kerry and Mary Hoskins Maxwell. He married Arlene Eakins on October 26, 1941. She preceded him in death on February 20, 1990. He began what he liked to call "his second life on December 28, 1990 when he married Mary Ellen Dedert Beckman.
Mr. Maxwell was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ and a former member of Springlake Country Club and Cedar Crest Country Club. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and sports enthusiast.
A 1938 graduate of Quincy High School, Kerry attended Culver Stockton College and M. I. T. in Cambridge, MA. He served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II. After his return from the service, he entered and later purchased the family business, Hoskins-Maxwell Roofing Company, which he operated until his retirement in 1985.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Ellen; two daughters, Carole J. Sharp and her husband Kenny of Taylor, MO. and Kathleen D. McNay and her husband Jack of Quincy; a daughter in law, Cecelia Maxwell of Navarre, FL.; six grandchildren; Kelly M. Sharp, Travis L. Sharp, Andrew J. Sharp, Kerry Maxwell III, Adam J. McNay and Karyn M. McNay; a brother, John Maxwell and his wife Marian of Quincy; three sisters, Josephine Fick of Quincy, Marianna Ernst and her husband Ernie of Princeton, IL. and Ruth Davis and her husband Lyle of Smithton, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Maxwell was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Arlene; a son, Kerry E. Maxwell; and two sisters, Eleanor Taylor and Jeanette Bordenkircher.
Cremation rites were accorded to Mr. Maxwell. Graveside memorial services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 in Quincy Memorial Park by the Rev. Wanda Seydel.
There is no visitation, but friends are invited to the services. The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
