LAWRENCE RAYMOND "PEE WEE" OWSLEY

Mr. Lawrence R. "Pee Wee" Owsley, 83, of 2000 Locust St., died at 8:50 p.m. Saturday (July 29, 2006) in Blessing Hospital.

Born December 14, 1922 in Quincy, Larry was the son of Orville and Helen Riley Owsley Sr. He married Lucille Shaffer on April 29, 1955 in Quincy. She survives.

Mr. Owsley enjoyed wood working and racing. He was an avid supporter of the #35 car driven by "Hank the Crank" and enjoyed watching him compete at Quincy Raceways on Sunday nights.

Larry worked in local construction for many years and was a member of the Labors Local Union #919.

Also surviving are six sons; Donald "Dean" Shaffer and his wife Diane of Harker Heights, TX., David Owsley and Melody, Tony Owsley and Devin, Larry Jo Owsley , Donald R. Owsley and Ginny and Marty Lee Owsley, all of Quincy, and James Owsley and Marcia of Ewing, MO.; four daughters; Louise Heckrodt and George of Lewistown, MO., Betty Crabbe and her husband Dave, Donna Taylor and her husband Steve and Suzie Burgtorf and her husband Wesley, all of Quincy; 60 grandchildren; 60 great grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Owsley and his wife Glo and Orville Owsley Jr.and his wife Jean, both of Quincy; three sisters, Ruby Thomas and Gloria Gonterman, both of Quincy, and Norma Reddick of Versailles, IL.; a half brother, Whitey Nixon of Quincy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald Owsley; a step son, Gary Lee Shaffer; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; a brother, Robert Owsley; and a sister, Lorraine Schuerman.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. George Tomko. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Wednesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for the 6th floor skilled nursing unit.
