LAVERNE SHULL

Mrs. Laverne Shull, 83, of 721 South 17th, died at 8:15 a.m. Thursday (June 15, 2006) in Blessing Hospital.

Born April 1, 1923 in Bluffs, Illinois, Laverne was the daughter of Albert and Augunda Placki Rolf. She married John D.

"J. D." Shull on February 13, 1944 in Bluffs, Illinois. He survives.

Laverne was a member of the Lutheran Church of St. John. She loved her family dearly and her greatest joy came in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A graduate of Bluffs High School and Gem City Business College, Laverne was employed at Crescent Electric for many years until her retirement in 1980.

Survivors include her husband, J.D.; three sons, Dennis Shull and his wife Pat of Quincy, Jeff Shull and his wife Carla of Columbus, Ohio and Tim Shull and his wife Terri of Peachtree City, GA.; a son in law, Rev. Gary Schluckebier of Quincy; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; a brother, Verlin Rolf and his wife Delores of Bluffs, IL.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Shull was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Linda Schluckebier and Sandra Shull; and a great grandson, Alexander James Lawler; and a sister, Louise Ehlert.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:30 in St. James Lutheran Church by the Rev. Harold Bender Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 3:00 to 6:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and Monday from 9:30 until the time of services at St. James Lutheran Church.
