LAVERTA K. "Sis" SCHEITER

Mrs. Laverta K."Sis" Scheiter, 92 of Sunset Home, formerly of 1000 Washington, died at 1:00 a.m. Tuesday (July 3, 2007) in Sunset Home.

Born April 5, 1915 in Quincy, Laverta was the daughter of John Macomber and William and Josephine Meyer Kattleman. She married Raymond A. "Red" Scheiter Sr. on August 31, 1935 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1988.

Laverta was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. She was devoted to her family and cherished the time she spent with them.

Mrs. Scheiter was employed as a domestic housekeeper for many years until her retirement.

Survivors include a son, Raymond Scheiter Jr. and his wife Rose of Quincy; a daughter, Linda Miller and her husband Larry of Quincy; six grandchildren, Angela Bridges and her husband Mark of Bettendorf, IA., Robert A. Scheiter and his wife Cindy of Camp Point, IL. and Renee Higgins and her husband Curtis, Bobette Leonard and her fiance' Craig Homan, Brian Hankins and his wife Michelle and Brad Hankins all of Quincy; twelve great grandchildren, Molly Bridges, Alec Bridges, Grant Higgins, Gavin Higgins, Megan Scheiter, Rylan Scheiter, Ronette Leonard, Grady Homan, Brooke Hankins, Brock Hankins, Allie Hankins and Ashton Hankins, ; a sister, Betty Yokem of Cedar Falls, IA.; three brothers, Jim Kattleman and his wife Carol of Cedar Falls, IA., Tom Kattleman and his wife Mary of Alton, IL. and Bob Kattleman and his wife Norma of Pittsfield, IL.; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Scheiter was preceded in death by her parents; her step father, Bill Kattleman; her husband, Raymond "Red" Scheiter; a son, Robert J. "Bob" Scheiter; five brothers, Roy Macomber, Junie Macomber, Ed Macomber, Joe Kattleman and William Kattleman Jr.; and two sisters, Bonnie Jo Kattleman in infancy and Vivian Orril.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Timothy White. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.
