
LEONHARD E. WILD SR.
Mr. Leonhard E. Wild Sr., 86, of Sebring, Florida, formerly of Quincy, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday (April 29, 2007) at his home in Sebring, Florida.
Born November 29, 1920 in Germany, Leonhard was the son of Leonhard E. and Sophie Dierking Wild. He married Marion Jean Aiken on August 15, 1941 in Napoleon, Ohio. She died February 21, 1994. He married Helen Kellar Wells on February 8, 1995 in Okeechobee, Florida. She survives.
Leonhard was a member of Luther Memorial Church, a 50 year of Herman Masonic Lodge No. 39 and Quincy Consistory, and a member of Ansar Shrine Temple of Springfield, IBEW Union Local 34 and the Okeechobee, Florida Elks Lodge. He was a past member of the Quincy Shrine Club, Court 20 Jesters of Springfield and the Loyal Order of Moose. Lenny enjoyed boating, motorcycles and traveling in their motor home.
Len immigrated from Germany to West Point, Illinois. He left West Point to go to Detroit, Michigan and worked for his step father in a stove plant. He later went to work for General Motors Fischer Body where he was a chief electrical trouble shooter. He returned to West Point and opened a hardware store and then an electrical business. In 1953, Len, along with Everett Akers and Frank Howser bough the Whitbread Electrical Company which later became Modern Electric and operated the business until it was sold in 1957. In 1961 Len bought Mac's Ltd. Electrical Contractors where he worked until his retirement in 1987.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; a son, Leonhard E. "Lenny" Wild Jr. and his wife Donna of Quincy; two daughters, Jean Lunt and her husband James of New Whiteland, IN. and Linda Smith and her husband Sam of Quincy; two step sons, James Mort and his wife Christine of Indiana and Lewis Mort and his wife Judy of North Liberty, IN.; a step daughter, Renee Gregg and her husband Al of Sebring, FL.; seven grandchildren, Dawn Etter and her husband Greg, Diane Hughes and her husband Jeff, Melinda Smith, Sam Smith Jr. and his fiance' Rachel Willinborg all of Quincy, Debi Derhake and her husband Jason of Ursa, IL., Melissa George and her husband Allen of Crestwood, KY., and Dennis Lunt and his wife Lisa of Indianapolis, IN.; nine great grandchildren; and a brother, Henry O. Wiegmann and his wife Delta of Quincy.
Mr. Wild was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Marion.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Lee Uden. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday until the time of services at the funeral home. Herman Masonic Lodge No. 39 will conduct Masonic Services at 7:00 Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or Hope Hospice of Sebring, FL.
