
LEWIS D. FRENCH
Lewis D. French 70, of 414 Big Lake Cove, Quincy, died at 12:38 a.m. Thursday (January 14, 2010) in Barnes' Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Born September 12, 1939 in Quincy, Lewis was the son of Eugene and Wilma Nick French. He married Janice K. Thompson on October 29, 1962 in Quincy. She survives.
Lewis attended Blessed Sacrament Church and was a member of the Iron Workers Union Local 518. An avid outdoorsman, Lewis enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, camping and gardening, but his greatest joy came in the time he spent with his family.
A 1957 graduate of Quincy High School, Lewis was employed as a crane operator and welder at Michelmann Steel Construction Company for over 30 years, retiring in 1995.
Survivors include his wife Janice; a daughter, Amy L. Leach and her husband Edward of Quincy; two sons, Lewis D. French Jr and Daniel French and his wife Cari both of Quincy; ten grandchildren, Skylar French, Nathan Foley, Alex French, Ashley French, Daniel French, Nicholas French, Lindsey French, Heather O'Hearn and her husband Steven, Nathen Leach, and Dustin Leach; a great granddaughter, Savanah O'Hearn; a brother, William "Bill" French of Quincy; a sister, Bonnie Adams of Norco, CA; a sister in law, Lois French of Palmyra, MO; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. French was preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Roberta French; and a brother, Robert French.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon 1:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 1:30 in Blessed Sacrament Church by Monsignor Michael Kuse. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home. A Parish Prayer Service will be held Sunday evening at 4:00 at the funeral home.
