
NORMA LILLIAN COOKSON
Mrs. Norma Lillian Cookson, 92, of North Adams Home, formerly of 4818 Sunview Dr., was called by the Lord to go to her heavenly home at 2:27 p.m. Thursday (June 15, 2006).
Norma came into this world the second daughter of Norman and Anna Armstrong Bradley on May 11, 1915 in Versailes, Illinois. She is survived by her husband George F. Cookson whom she married on July 9, 1934 in Carthage, Illinois. They enjoyed 72 wonderful years of married life together.
Norma was a long time member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She enjoyed fishing and traveling with her husband throughout the United States with their Holiday Rambler Trailer Club. Norma and her husband also belonged to the Quincy Saddle Club and for many years enjoyed showing their beloved Palomino Parade Horses. Truly a loving wife, mother and grandmother she will be missed by her husband, children and grandchildren. She had a wonderful life and was ready to go home to be with her Lord and her family in heaven.
Mrs. Cookson was employed at Motorola for 18 years retiring in 1970.
Also surviving are three daughters, Barbara Joann Ellerbrock and her husband Max, Mary Ellen Tipton and her husband Robert M. and Nancy Karen Campbell and her husband Denny, all of Quincy; two sons, Robert L. "Bobby" Cookson and his wife Jeannen of Quincy and George F. Cookson Jr. and his wife Lori of Dow, IL..; ten grandchildren, Paula Ludwig of Flat Rock, MI., Bob Cookson of Quincy, Robin L. Porter of Edwardsville, IL., Randy M. Ellerbrock and his wife Beth of Clayton, Tammie E. Cramm and her husband Kevin of Mendon, Rob Tipton and his wife Naomi of Quincy, D. Casey Campbell and his wife Sue of Camp Point, Lee Campbell and his wife Shelly of Quincy, Christine Goggins and her husband Nick of Quincy and Jay C. Cookson and his wife Kelly, of Hannibal, MO.; eighteen great grandchildren; eleven great great grandchildren; three brothers, Russell Bradley of Meredosia, IL., Virgil Lyle Bradley and his wife Janie of Liberty and Thomas Armstrong and his wife Mary of Rushville; five half brothers, Terry Bradley and his wife Linda of Chapin, IL., LaVern Bradley and his wife Betty of Lakeland, FL., Walter Bradley of Peoria, Ronald Bradley and William Bradley and his wife Barbara, both of Beardstown; a half sister, Brenda Chestnut and her husband Ronald of Nebraska; a sister in law, Mary Bradley of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ray, Robert, Raymond and Norman Bradley; three sisters, Ellen Cookson, Dorothy Shank and Marjorie Allison; two half brothers, Shirley Eugene Bradley and Steve Bradley; three half sisters, Opal Anderson, Connie Bradley and Joyce Bradley; and a daughter in law, Shirley Cookson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:30 in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church by Rev. Larry Troxel. Private family interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday morning from 10:30 until the time of services at the church.
