LINFORD "LIN" HOFFER
Linford "Lin" Hoffer, 80, of 1231 Gayla Drive, died at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday (October 10, 2007) in the Illinois Veterans Home.
Born December 24, 1926 in Quincy, Lin was the son of Floyd and Erma Hagemeyer Hoffer. He married Lee N. "Betty" Swan on June 6, 1964 in Quincy. She survives
Mr. Hoffer enjoyed fishing, reading and woodworking. He was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a 1953 graduate of Iowa State University with a Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Education. Lin served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy seeing action in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
Lin was employed at Moorman Manufacturing for over 20 years retiring in 1992.
Survivors include his wife, Lee "Betty"; a son, Doug Hoffer of Quincy; two brothers, Arlo Hoffer and his wife Billie of Ewing, MO and Leland Hoffer and his wife Diane of Oswego, IL; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews.
Mr. Hoffer was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Nathan Rector. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday afternoon from 12:30 until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activity Fund or to the Alzheimer's Association.
